Building Race Day Coach

How Race Day Coach Started

Estonia gave the world Skype. Then Bolt came along and filled our streets with electric scooters. Skype has since retired, and the scooters seem to be everywhere.

Marathon runners racing through a city in hazy black and white.

So I thought… maybe it's time to build something that gets people moving on their own two feet instead.

Meet Race Day Coach.

The idea actually started with my own running.

While preparing for races, I kept running into the same problem: understanding the course was one thing, but turning elevation changes, weather conditions, wind, and target pace into a realistic race strategy was another.

There was plenty of data available. What I wanted was one clear plan that brought it all together.

So I decided to build it.

What started as a personal project is slowly growing into something bigger. Race Day Coach is still in its early stages, but the first tools are already available for runners to explore and try out.

And this is just the beginning.

Right now, Race Day Coach focuses on understanding the race course. But my vision goes much further.

I want to build a platform that understands the runner behind it — their training history, fitness, progress, and potential. A place where AI-powered insights could help runners understand what they're capable of, prepare smarter, train more effectively, and make better decisions on race day.

From training and race preparation to pacing, performance, and recovery, the long-term goal is to bring the entire running journey together in one connected experience.

Race Day Coach was born in Estonia and is currently available in Estonian and English. As the running community grows, I'd love to make the platform available in more languages, guided by where runners are actually using it.

I'll be sharing parts of this journey here — what I'm building, the challenges along the way, what I learn, and how the platform evolves.
